Jet Set Pauly
16
Because the platypus is a flightless egg-laying species, Pauly the Political Platypus has been bugging us for some time to buy him a jet pack so he can experience the thrill of flight like his avian cousins. Now he’s really excited, since recent news reports are confirming a story from FOX News back in March which suggested that personal jet packs will be available for sale later this year. They will be light, powerful, easy to operate and priced at a mere $100,000 a unit.
Best of all, no special licensing will be required (at least in the beginning) since the jet pack is neither a plane nor a motorcycle and transportation officials don’t know quite how to treat it. “It’s neither fish nor fowl. Is this regulated by the FAA or is it a personal vehicle like a bicycle or ATV? I don’t think anyone knows yet,” says Mike Adams, an underwriter for the company.

Open Mic June 10

Over in Washington, D.C., they’re having a Weiner roast, but is that being handled the best way it can? Perhaps all this focus on underwear is distracting us from the real problems of governing.
Is nothing else going on in the world of politics, or is this merely smoke and mirrors obscuring the bigger problems?
Do we want to focus on Yemen or Bahrain or Libya this coming week?
Will Leon Panetta be confirmed easily, or does he have a rough sail ahead?
Don’t see an article on a particular topic, but want to talk about it somewhere? This is Open Mic. Talk about whatever you want, but stay respectful.
We create a new Open Mic every week to give a clean slate, but feel free to add to this topic at any time.
