Tonight, Logarchism will undergo a software upgrade. It’s nothing earth-shattering, but here’s what to expect from it:

  • Better performance: The new software uses server resources more efficiently. Our tests show that the page starts loading 50% faster, and finishes loading about 30% sooner.
  • More capacity: During the Wisconsin recall results, we had so much traffic that it was overloading our server. The upgrade should increase our capacity.
  • Some visual changes: The changes will be pretty subtle, but they’re designed to make it easier to use the site. I also fixed the comment preview button, which I accidentally broke about a week ago.

Waiting in the wings are some additional performance improvements, and a WYSIWYG comment interface that looks very promising.

If you happen to be on the site late tonight while the upgrade is happening, you will see a maintenance message. The whole operation should take well under a half hour.
