I’m done with bets for now.…but you’re crazy if you think it won’t/cant’ happen. 

This man has unbridled hubris and an audience willing to lap up everything he says as gospel truth.  I wouldn’t underestimate any of his mobilizing capabilities nor do I underestimate the stupidity of a broad swath of Americans to put their full faith in this egomaniacal asswipe.

What kinda odds will you give me on that? I’ll take that bet instead.

I’d put up $1000 if I didn’t have to wait 5 years. Small potential gain plus 5 years wait=not a compelling bet imo.

In spite of all the bluster and bullshit (of which I am personally well familiar), I believe you to be a man of honor. It’s that southern sense of duty and honor too deeply ingrained.

Good.  Although I have no intention of welching on this bet. 

We’ll give Michael a little bit to confirm he’s in for the other $50.  If he declines (though I didn’t get that impression), then the bet between Max and I rolls up into the full $100. 

Clearly I’m not embracing it wholeheartedly, either, or I wouldn’t have made the odds so long.  I was even going to suggest 50–1, but the payouts would be that much more lopsided to almost seem unfair.  I don’t know Michael’s and Max’ financial situation, but if they can afford $1,000 apiece on a bet like this, they could probably afford $2,500.  But that just seemed a tad unfair to ask them to front that much with so little to gain, even if they believe the true odds of it happening to be so heavily stacked in their favor. 

I know this much, I’ve bluffed with a $50 bet in many a poker game on something like 4–6 offsuit, so to risk that much gambling that Obama will overstay his welcome in the White House in 4 years isn’t too much of a stretch.
